I recently had the opportunity to do a workshop with Mary Ellen Mark in NYC. We spent two of the three days shooting at local events. One was a children’s parade and the other a dog costume contest in Tompkins Square Park. By far my favorite part of the weekend was Mary Ellen Showing us her prom photos that were created using a 20 x 24 inch Polaroid camera. Being able to see the original prints was so special and the quality was inspiring. It was so personal unlike seeing work like this in a museum. Thank you to the staff and especially Mary Ellen for opening up her studio to students and professionals. It was truly an inspiring weekend. Below are a few images that I took during the two days in NY.
