A couple months ago I did an interview and was featured in a magazine called Techmag. Pretty neat to see it in Chinese! Hope it says good things! They are supposed to send me a copy but if you happen to see one could you pick it up for me?

I have had a lot of requests to enlarge my prints up to really large sizes so it just made sense to start using a medium format camera for this body of work. I love the process and working with this camera. Being in my studio, flowers, light-meters, and rolling film again makes for a great day. It took about 6 months but I’m now happy with the results. You can see the whole series here in my Etsy shop. xo

Yikes, it’s been awhile. Sorry that I have been ignoring my blog. As any parent of two small children will know, this winter has been filled with coughs, colds, ear infections, and antibiotics. Our recent visit brought us home with an inhaler and a very worried mommy (she is doing much better)!! These two kids rock my world, fill it with frustration, and continue to test me every day. As I’m looking back on this winter I see a very scary world but fortunate to be able to spend as much time as I do with my daughters. They are everything to me. I also know that I need some time away to work. I love what I do and find so much joy taking photographs of people and for people. That said here are a few highlights from the past few months.
I attended foundations workshops in February in Glen Rose Texas.
Foundations workshop has changed my life… twice. It’s been months and I’m still struggling to find the right words to describe my experience. If you haven’t heard of it and are at all interested please check it out. It’s worth every penny and more. http://fworkshop.com/.
After presenting our slideshow on the last night we are supposed to stand up and say something. I had everything planned out and when I got up to speak… surprise… I froze. I don’t think I said anything for about a minute. I was SO overwhelmed by the support and gratitude I felt I couldn’t get anything that I had planned out. So here it goes, “First thank you David Murray for bringing me to foundations, being my mentor, and continuing to support me – you are family to me. Thank you Huy for creating this safe space to learn in and being my first team leader at FW9, you saved me (dramatic but true)!! Thank you Ben Chrisman and to my team at FW11. It was a long, hard, exhausting, very rewarding week. I can’t wait to start using what I learned in my own photography.
And finally I wanted to thank the Samuel family for letting me come into your home (Jennifer, you are a rock star)! Kaitlyn will forever be in my heart and the kindness you have shown is overwhelming From the teachers, aides, bus drivers, and assistants, I’m forever grateful for this experience. I would love to show my slideshow to the world but for future students and the privacy of others I will just show one image that I took of Kaitlyn and a few images that my good friend and mentor took of me while out shooting. Thanks Craig Fritz for the great photos!

In January I started selling my work at IKEA
I recently started selling at Ikea worldwide, it’s given me opportunities to upgrade my gear and invest back into my work. I have been researching papers, flowers, and printing techniques to continue providing a product that I’m proud to be selling in my Etsy store. I sound like an ad…HA! But honestly I really want to give my customers a print that would stand up in any gallery. I recently purchased a medium format film camera. It’s been fun and very challenging at the same time. A new series shot by my new camera will be coming out very soon. I can’t wait to show it off.
I’m on Instagram
feel free to follow me here or on your iphone!
Thanks for being patient, I can assure you that I will be posting more as the months ahead are filled with some fantastic weddings, photo-shoots, new fine art prints, and of course the girls. xoxo
